Relaxing (and rainy)

It was a wonderful trip--just what the doctor ordered!  The mountains at the end of Manoa Valley are seen from the deck.

Our one real day at the beach

We had a nice long morning of sun, but as you can see from the clouds, the afternoon was back to wind a rain.

Rainy Day Drive

We are on the far left of the map, just before you get to Hanauma Bay.  The blowhole wasn't too spectacular and my lens kept getting rained on (thank goodness for cloning).  On the left is Sandy Beach, the most dangerous on O'ahu and Hidden Beach, where we could have seen turtles from this vantage point in calm weather.

Flowers

No swimming today!  But a visit with friend Maryilyn is always a joy.  These were taken, in the wind, on my iPhone in her backyard.

A couple hours at the beach before it got too cold

Our HI friend thought we were crazy to swim in this "cold" weather!Sunset over Honolulu

Some sun at Waikiki

Diamond Head.                                                    Looking back at Manoa Valley and all its rain.  Notice how empty the beaches are--tourism is way down here.

Spur of the Moment

The kids were getting together for a BBQ on Sunday and on Saturday I decided I wanted to see them all. I drove to Red Bluff Saturday afternoon, spent the night, and arrived in Oakland Sunday at 9 a.m. Fred held down the fort at home and I was back by noon on Monday.

It was a marvelous day. Robert and family were there too. Sometimes it really pays to be spontaneous!!!!!!!
